A Classic: Dilwale Dulhaniye Le Jayenge

DDLJ is one of those movies that I’d never rent at the rental shop, simply because I’d be to embarrassed – I was convinced that it’s one of those cliché bollywood movies with Shahrukh Khan.
Now, the Babylon Mitte has a Berlinale special: A Tribute to Shahrukh Khan. Yesterday, they showed DDLJ, and G convinced me to go and see it. I didn’t regret it – it’s funny, sometimes involuntarily so. It’s instructive – now I know that Swizzerland is a part of London, or the other way round. It has Shahrukh Khan in all his modes – comic, romancing, loving, charming, psychopath and killer – what more could you want?
I liked the songs, and picturizations. It was especially funny to watch the Swiss, and their reaction to crazy Indians.
If you haven’t seen it, go and see it. Wear those shades that filter every traditional moral, otherwise there are some moments where you’ll puke. It ain’t big cinema, but it’s certainly entertaining.
